About Dr. Menon

In more than 10 years of practice in the area, Dr.Pramod Menon has developed the highest volume of trans-radial coronary angiography (heart caths done from the wrist) on the Northshore. In fact, he was the first interventional cardiologist on the Northshore to treat a heart attack patient from the wrist and successfully open their artery with a stent.

He has also developed a high success rate of opening the most complex type of blockage in his patient population, chronic total occlusions (CTOs). In addition, Dr. Menon has used  the newest minimally invasive techniques and procedures to successfully treat his patients with heart and vascular disease.

In 2016, Dr. Menon performed over 450 cath lab procedures including cardiac stents, peripheral vascular procedures (leg stents), heart rhythm monitoring devices (loop recorders), and invasive heart ultrasounds (trans-esophageal ECHOs).

Philosophy in practicing medicine:

The most common question I’m asked by patients about their treatment is, “What would you do if I were your family member?” And unequivocally, my answer is always, “I’m basing my recommendation on the fact that I’m treating you as if you were my family member.”

I’ve found that most people respond well to honest, fact-based information, founded on the most current clinical trials, science, and medical data. But science and data don’t always fit every single person, just right, every single time. So my approach to patient care has always been to apply science and data to each patient individually, and to come up with a treatment plan that caters to them specifically.

When I’m in the office and hospital, it’s to take care of you, answer your questions and explain your options, and put you at ease related to your cardiovascular health. Since 2006, and even today, it remains a privilege to do so.

Lacombe study tests new design for heart stents.

A heart stent is a simple piece of technology: a collapsed metal tube a little bigger than a spring in a ballpoint pen. The idea behind its use in heart care is simple too: The stent is inserted into a blocked vein or artery and expanded to hold the passage open and allow blood to flow.
